As part of the wider Brandspace team, the PR and Media Events Co-ordinator will support in the delivery of key PR activities for Volvo Car UK, raising awareness of Volvo Cars’ brand and products through editorial/earned coverage in consumer-facing UK media, and to protect and enhance the company’s corporate reputation. What you will do:
You will be responsible for a range of functions relating to press office functionality, including the provision of prompt, accurate responses to media queries, communication about Volvo’s products and offerings, press releases, management of media website and media contacts, and providing support to the Product Communications Manager. You will also be responsible for monitoring of Volvo Car UK’s media coverage and analysis and managing the company’s media monitoring supplier, ensuring that monthly metrics are provided by the company’s media, PR and product placement suppliers.
With the oversight of the PR Lead, you will take responsibility for day-to-day management of agencies to support the delivery of premium UK media events that meet Volvo Car UK’s high standards and deliver to the needs of invited media. This involves hosting media at events, acting as an informal spokesperson on media events, and coordinating the company’s attendance at industry events. You will support the planning and organization of attendance at international media events, including travel arrangements. Part of your responsibilities will also encompass management of the PR budget.

Your skills:
We believe you have several years of experience with PR and media events (including budget management) for high profile brands. A PR degree and experience working in a press office environment would be considered advantageous. We believe that you possess the following skills, to be successful in this role:

  • Genuine interest in, and knowledge of, the news agenda, as well as an interest in delivering coverage in all media
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Creativity and desire to seek constant improvement in the way things are done
  • Desire to grow and develop your skills in PR

This role requires you to travel and be away from home when required.
